Here’s a new Real-time painting video (Part 1 out of 2) Hope you like it!

The reference photo is attached below!

Frequently asked questions:

Q: How much time did this painting really take?

A: I'm speeding the video up a little, cutting out all the pauses, the moments of me thinking and analyzing what to do next, and even some small parts of the process get omitted at times. So the process itself is quite a bit longer than the real-time videos. Usually a painting like that takes me around 20-25 hours to complete.

Q: Can you include all parts of the process?

A: I am trying to. However, you need to know that the camera stops recording every 12 minutes or so therefore some parts are not captured. And as I’ve mentioned previously, I have to cut some unimportant parts in order to make a video better, easier to watch and to follow along :) But I'm trying my best to show you the process and all the ins and outs!

Hello Daria. Is there a place where you explain how you came up with those tints/color mixtures?

Daria Callie

Hello Victoria! Do you mean colors for skin tones? I always compare the colors I use to the colors on the reference picture. I find the "dominant" 6 or 7 colors and mix them as close to those I see on the reference I use. As I paint, I create more hues and tones with those colors.. but I start only with those few main ones.

Thank you for sharing that beginner paint info. I have been looking for explanations on what primary colors to put together. I am truly grateful to have found your channel and Patreon. Thank you for taking out the time to put all of this material Daria.
