In 2002, The Rock had reached his apex. He was the unquestioned Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, a Triple Crown winner in WWE, and he was about to walk away from full time wrestling forever. He was just 30 years old.

But the siren song of Hollywood was calling to him, and he was about to embark on an acting career that would see him attain dizzying heights and sink to positively submersible lows.

His first big starring role was actually a bit of both, with positive reviews and a less-than-stellar box office return. It was the bounty hunter buddy action comedy THE RUNDOWN, also starring Rosario Dawson, Christopher Walken, and Stiffler from American Pie.

The movie drenches itself in performative machismo, which was not unheard of when looking at similar movies of the time period, but The Rundown is very hit or miss. The Rock is charming and charismatic, but does the film live up to the standards of 'The Final Boss'?

And the most important question: IS. IT. CINEMA?

Kate and Alex will let you know.

Weird movie career. I actually think he has a decent amount of talent for it but his best movies went nowhere and his worst movies where he is basically playing the same character is what made money. There is a different world where he is more of a leading man type in the Chris Pratt mold.

Loved this movie as a kid. Gotta do Walking Tall next as it has another wrestling legend in it... Johnny Knoxville!
